How to Free Yourself from the Patterns That Are Keeping You Stuck
By Bob Frissell
Do you feel like you’re at a tipping point and you don’t know which way to turn? Do youfeel like you’re just going through the motions and life is passing you by? Do you ever look out the window and wonder “when” or “if”?
Whether it’s an impending divorce, perhaps it’s leaving a dead-end job that you hate, maybe it’s moving, or you might be stuck in stress and anxiety for reasons you often times can’t quite put a finger on.
But whatever it is, there’s a yearning to make the right decision---one that’s in your best interest---and to do it in a way that you feel is respectful, that is admirable, that has integrity. But you just don’t know what to do.
And because you’re afraid to make the wrong decisions, you make no decisions. Yet you don’t want to wake up only to realize that it’s too late, and you’re living a life of quiet desperation.
Since we all have an ultimate destiny that we want to fulfill, the decisions we make should lead us in that direction. But often times we get stuck in a certain way of being, or in a certain condition or situation because of our past conditioning or our past upbringing, or other things that we’ve been exposed to in our life, and we don’t know how to extract ourselves from that thinking, from that conditioning. It’s like we’re stuck in quick sand; and we don’t know which way to go.
Each one of us has an engine within that has a desire for us, and it creates steam to keep our life moving forward. But if the pressure gets too great because we’re not living our life in the way that we’re meant to, then it builds and builds, and it shows up as stress, anxiety and compulsive and addictive behavior. And in order to take that pressure away, we do these crazy things; we have affairs, we turn to alcohol, we overeat, and so on.
The engine is our soul, our Spirit, our connection to Source. It’s not going to stop; it will keep going.
You know you are meant for more andyou’re finally ready to take full responsibility for your life. You want to feel connected to your soul, desires and passions so you can live in your truest purpose.
What if there was a technique that you could use to provide the understanding so that the valve can be opened properly with wisdom and clarity, so that you can live robustly and vividly, rather than resorting to stop-gap symptom-masking Band-Aid quick fixes?
Would you take it?
An Ancient Tradition for our Modern-Day World
Breathwork is an ancient tradition, and where we see medicine failing us, we’re now turning to the wisdom of these ancient traditions that have worked for hundreds of years and integrating them into our modern-day life.
I’ve made Breath Alchemy, which is based on ancient wisdom, into a modern-day system by showing you how harmonize the emotional and spiritual energies in your body.
This then allows you to be alert, be present, be decisive when you need to be, so that you’re in a state of calm rather than anxiety.
And in a state of calm, you get more done, you are more creative, and when you free yourself from the fears and doubts that have been keeping you stuck, the solutions to your problems magically begin to appear. Perhaps they were there all along, but you just didn’t see them
Your main relationships with your family greatly improve, so that there’s not this stuff hanging in the air with your spouse. You can resolve things quickly so you can truly enjoy each other’s company.
Eliminating the Source of your Distress
All of the problems that you have in life come from your own negative contexts that interfere with your ability to have your ideal relationship to the things that are happening in your life. All negative contexts come from insisting that reality should be different from how it is.
I’m sure you have noticed by now that reality is not the way it “should be”, reality is the way it is. And in order to eliminate the source of your distress so you can be more creative and at peace with your life, it is necessary to find a more useful relationship to the reality of your experience.
Breath Alchemy is a way to do that without engaging in a lot of mental head trips. You don’t need to have a cognitive understanding of what you are dealing with using the Breath Alchemy technique; you can do it entirely at the feeling level.
Content and Context
This technique is about harmonizing with the reality of your experience, whatever your experience is moment by moment.
Let’s take a moment now to look at the relationship between content and context. By content, I mean the thing itself or reality itself. The thoughts in your mind as well as the sensations in your body are all content.
Your relationship to what you are experiencing is called the context in which you hold the experience. Context could also be described as your point of view, the meaning or interpretation that you give to something, your attitude about something, your outlook, your opinions about something, or the frame of reference in which you hold your experience.
Your mind does not relate to the content of your reality directly. Rather, it perceives reality through the lens or filter that is the context in which you are holding your experience. That means that your context determines how the content of your experience affects you.
Knowing that that the circumstances in your life (the content) affect you only as a function of the context in which you perceive them is very empowering. This is because your freedom, happiness and power are internal resources that become independent of your external circumstances, once you know how to consciously shift contexts.
You can either choose your context consciously, or you can let your subconscious mind choose it for you, which usually means contaminating fresh, new situations with stale, old negativity.
A negative context is any context in which you compare the content to an imaginary standard and you tell yourself that reality should not be the way it is, that it should be the way you are imagining instead.
In other words, reality is the way it is whether you like it or not and you have chosen not to like it because it’s not like the imaginary standard you have in your mind. That’s a negative context.
The jargon term I use for it is you are "making it wrong". If you are comparing it to how you think it should be, rather than letting it be what is, then you are “making it wrong”. “Make-wrong” is also a noun.
The obvious implication of putting it that way is that the wrongness or unpleasantness of the experience is not inherent in the experience itself; it is a function of how you are making it. You are making it a negative experience.
A positive context is any other kind of context whatsoever, any context in which you are not comparing the content to an imaginary standard; this also includes a neutral context. In the absence of make-wrong, all experiences are empowering and pleasant; and that’s a very big statement to make right now, but it will become clear.
Whenever you are holding an experience in a negative context, you are not fully in touch with reality, because a substantial part of your mind is off in something that is totally imaginary and has nothing to do with reality.
How it should be, how you wish it were, how good things used to be, what someone else has etc. All that kind of stuff, has nothing to do with the reality of your experience. That’s all imaginary, so any time that you are comparing something to an imaginary standard, you are withdrawing from reality. You are not focused on the reality that is there; because a substantial part of you is focused on this totally imaginary thing, all your thoughts about how it should be.
What Breath Alchemy Does
Every make-wrong produces an unpleasant feeling in the body, It’s easy to verify this for yourself: just notice how you feel next time you’re making something wrong.
These unpleasant feelings tend to become suppressed in the body (corresponding negative thoughts are suppressed in the subconscious part of the mind), where they are not experienced consciously until something in life reminds the person of the negative context they have been trying to keep suppressed. Then the unpleasant feeling comes right back to the person’s attention again.
While the feeling is being experienced consciously the person has an opportunity to integrate the feeling or to rethink his or her context about the situation and shift to a positive context mentally. Doing either eliminates the negative context at its source.
In most cases, however, people blame the unpleasantness they experience on whatever (or whomever) has just reactivated their suppressed negative emotions – “Blaming the content,” I like to call that. They effort to control the situation and people involved (engage in an unconsciously motivated compulsive reaction, in other words) in order to get the unpleasant emotions re-suppressed as soon as possible.
Once they succeed at re-suppressing, they go back to being walking time bombs of emotions, hoping against hope that the world will cooperate with their self-delusion. Around and around this emotional merry-go-round turns.
Breath Alchemy stops this vicious cycle. By voluntarily welcoming the suppressed feelings, the compulsive motivation to avoid them is eliminated. Because Breath Alchemy is both gentle and self-directed, it is easy to allow feelings to come up and integrate, regardless of how long they have been dreaded and avoided.
What we’re doing in my Breath Alchemy Coaching program is changing the way you respond to stress producing negative emotions, fears and doubts. Circular Breathing creates a new muscle memory and the Five-Step Harmonizing Method creates a new emotional response to these limitations.
These two things together will give you a new paradigm for dealing with stress and anxiety in your life as it comes up in the moment. This frees you from the fears and doubts that have been keeping you stuck, and allows your creative juices to flow again.
In general, whatever gets integrated in a completed Breath Alchemy session stays integrated (although make-wrong is an eternal option that goes with having a mind). Nonetheless not all your make-wrongs will get integrated in one session or even in several sessions.
The bad news is that if you are like most human beings, you have thousands of make-wrongs suppressed in your subconscious mind.
The good news is two-fold: every integration feels wonderful and every integration makes the next integration easier.
The effect of Breath Alchemy over a period of time is that layer after layer of suppressed negative emotions get resolved, never to trouble you again. You become much more comfortable with being human. Your self-esteem, relationships, prosperity and creativity all improve dramatically.
This means that your level of enjoyment in life is a 10 instead of a 3 or a 4.
Imagine your future possible life--the one where you areable to be your truest self in every moment—calm, focused and self-assured—effortlessly attracting abundance, excitement and joy into your life!
Why swim upstream when you can be gliding over the oceans of the world?
I stumbled upon Bob’s work by circumstance in early summer of 2019.
After spending the past two years of my life in anger, depression, and self-doubt - following a very difficult divorce process - I finally realized that I needed a massive shift in perspective in my life.
When I first was guided by Bob through a Breath Alchemy session, I was amazed to feel some deep emotional purging during this hour of deep breathing. I felt very safe and comfortable just being in Bob’s presence when he continued guiding me throughout the following weeks of our work together.
What really showed me the power of this breathing technique was the fact that no session was alike and my body and mind system always brought me to the next step of physical and emotional healing and deep spiritual downloads.
Bob is a truly remarkable teacher and I highly recommend him for any inner work someone attempts to do. I am continuing the Breath Alchemy sessions about twice a week and always feel a long-lasting sense of peace afterwards.
I also highly recommend his books as they are a wonderful companion to this work.
Working with Bob, in my Breath Alchemy sessions, was stellar and insightful. He is a fun coach and was very focused, present and available for my experience.
Looking back before starting Breath Alchemy, I noticed myself feeling reactive and agitated about things during my day. I resisted much of reality the way it is. I would spin in my mind about how things should be different in society or how people should behave better.
After Breath Alchemy, I have felt more willingness to accept the way reality is and not resist it in subconscious projection. I allow for what is with a sense of neutral presence. I let life be more as it is now. I feel less impatient and more in the flow and am better able to find enjoyment in the present moment.
During the sessions, I was able to transform limiting feelings that arose. I experienced becoming super present. My awareness felt so heightened and the aliveness that came over me was astonishing, healing and blissful.
The take away from this work, that I am still noticing, is experiencing more freedom with most everything that happens during the day. I learned how to harmonize with any feeling that arose in my body and found a way to make peace with it. I breathe more consciously now. I am more present with myself, more in touch with the sensations in my body. And can enter into the moment with greater presence of heart, which has given rise to feeling more aligned with my higher self and more available to synchronicity.
